Switch rods are great for almost any situation, but where they really shine is under situations when you are using long leaders. The extra length of the rod makes it easier to pick that leader out of the water and makes mending from longer distances that much easier. If you are big on roll/spey casting this might be the rod for you. The length makes fishing it with one hand no problem.
